I have just traded my 1996 E320 on a 2006 CLK280 (3.0 ltr V6 with 7G auto sports pack) and have covered only 300kms in it. I live in a hilly town and today for the first time used my CLK in left turn from a level street into a hilly street. This is something I have done many times in my E320 (straight six) many times and in that car the auto immediately shifted down and away we went up hill effortlessly. In the CLK, (S mode selected) within seconds of turning into the hill street, the car laboured so heavily it almost came to a stop before I manually intervened, using the selector to select a low gear. I then moved up the hill ok and part way up resumed the auto by selecting D
and again the car almost stopped. I also tried the same excercise in C mode, same result.
If I engaged the accelerator kick down in D (C or S) it would kick down a gear and then shift up and again almost come to a stall.
I am hoping this is not normal, can any has at a guess what could be wrong, or is this just the way a 280 with 7G auto works. (I certainly hope not, as my 13 yo, 220k km E320 would still eat this task)
