Hi,

I'm new to the forum but not new to owning a mercedes. Had a few issues with the car and only had it 6 weeks, not a good sign! Just wanted people's opinions if the following fault codes are the dreaded balancer shaft issue? They are as follows:-

0522 - Diagnosis of tumble flat intake manifold. Open circuit of sensor lines. Tumble flap shafts stick in the non-actuated position (P2006)

0750 - Self adaption of mixture formation for enleanment at idle for the left cylinder bank is below the permissible limit (P0175)

0746 - Self adaption of mixture formation for enleanment at idle for the right cylinder bank is below the permissible limit (P0172)

0064 - Continuous camshaft adjustment (left) incorrect position of the exhaust camshaft (P0025)

C1173 - Steering angle sensor N49 - Plausible error
C1172 - Steering angle sensor and N49 - Internal fault

The previous week I'd had fault codes diagnosed as:-

P0025 - Continous camshaft adjustment (left), incorrect position of the exhaust camshaft.

P2006 - Open circuit of sensor lines/tumble flap shafts. Stick in the non actuated position.

P0172 - Self adaption of mixture formation for enleanment at idle for the right cylinder bank is under the permissible limit.

P0730 - Fault present in control module transmission.

Auto-Transmission

0894 - The gear is implausible or the transmission is slipping.

Instrument Panel

B1115 - Fault in CAN Communication with control AAC.

ANTI-Lock Brakes

C1173 Steering Angle Sensor N49 - Plausibility Error
C1172 Steering Angle Sensor N49 - Internal Fault

Aircon

B1460 - A32n1 (Blower Regulator)

So a few issues to deal with, please let me know your thoughts as the dealer wants me to take the car back to him, but I'd prefer a fix by a Mercedes Dealer.

You brought it from a dealer?

I'd take it straight back, Let him deal with it. if you start messing around then he could argue you have caused the faults.

Trouble is I really like the car, dealer is prepared to get a specialist to have a look and fix issues, but can you trust a used car dealer these days?? Have spoken with CAB & Trading Standards so everything is logged in case it goes further.

Legally you have to give them a chance to repair it.

Agreed, but they are a fair distance from me and its not practical to get the car there. Mercedes have offered their used car health check for £175 plus VAT, for me to take days off, return car and get home, then collect car it would cost me more in loss of earnings and travel expenses. With the car being 2005, Mercedes Basingstoke offer cheaper labour rates, so it's catch 22. According to CAB & Trading Standards, it's also worth getting a report done on what's fair wear and tear and what's a genuine fault.
