CLK320 cabrio 2004 rear headrests popped up and wont go down - help

I had to hit the brakes on a speed bump which sent the rear headrests shooting up to fully extended. A safety feature, I think. The button is just clicking and when I try to take the roof off the computer says visit workshop. Any suggestion on lowering would really be appreciated. Thanks

Also, the drivers electric headrest works when it wants to. Not all the time!

You need to push a long metal rod/ screwdriver down the side of the headrest to depress the locking catch and release the headrest. There is a stitched seam in the side to show you where. I used the long allen key in the toolkit. When you feel the spring catch go down just push the headrest back in.
