CLK430
Hi,

At the start of a restore project. My first Benz.
Picked up a 2001 W208 CLK430 which has potential to be made good once again.

It has had a bad 2nd set of cats removal - I will build a stainless system in the next few months.

A few questions
OBD2 reader - can anyone recommend one on eBay?
The throttle is hesitant - is it the TPS?
On the drive back from its previous abusive owner I done a launch just to see how she goes. Ok the first time but the second time it went into like limp mode.
Then regained power after 15 seconds.

Other than that, (and the rust) I'm in love with it!

Any advice welcome.

Any chance that it was the traction nanny cutting in to spoil your fun on the second launch? - I don't know how much it changed from the W208 to the W209, but I think it's a little too active on mine.

Another thought; dirty MAF?

I also don't know how it goes with the W208, but I bought an iCasoft i980 after reading the posts on here and that seems to work well with my car. - I know they don't have 100% compatibility with every system on every car though.

Hmm the TC light came on for a second and went off. Something else I think, given the time. It was like pure limp mode.
Will look into the i980, thanks for the recommendation!

I might change the maf - planning a mega service to bring the car back in shape!

Thanks, will give it a look.

Are u in the UK
Carsoft i980 might not work on your car u need obd2 for it
For 38 pin plug u need carsoft v12 original as most copies have virus .

I'm very uk.
Would love to hear from a clk430 owner 2001 what they use.

Appreciate the advice though.
What kinda virus? I'm not in about hooking up a laptop
I'm looking at the generic eBay Chinese OBD2 readers.

Has anyone had TPS issues?
