I'm struggling to see what you've done there.

Did you heat wrap the standard intake pipes?

sorry, better pic here :)

is that tin foil you wrapped?
did you buy at local grocery store?

what kind of improvement will this do?
smoother running engine?

colder air coming into engine makes your engine feel more powerful

its heat reflective adhesive tape bought for just £8, everyone keeps going on about the fact that the airbox soaks up all the heat from the engine thus making the cool air coming in "much hotter" by the time it goes into the engine, thus loosing power. After this mod (and wrapping the intake pipes for good measure) i can definitely notice a difference, and i was the most skeptical of them all !!

£8 cold air induction - hooray

That's cheap! Last roll I bought was £25 or so and it wasn't enough to cover as much as you have!

Cold air feed fitted

For all the people having a good old laugh about some "tin foil" blah blah blah, just because it didn't cost £2k and need to be "installed" by a specialist don't mean it does not work. This mod is a proven way to reduce engine heat rising "up" through the airbox.

Here is the original thread with Dyno results and 1/4 times.

To the original post starter, good job mate, looks nicely done under the box.

Although I am a believer in this type of mod I am skeptical as to it's effectiveness with only a thin foil.
Dyno results are misleading as the air is still so heats up quickly, when on the road the air is being forced through the engine bay at a great rate.

My exhaust manifold is wrapped, but to keep the gasses entering the turbo hotter. It does lower the engine bay temperature.

Cooler air is more dense and equals lower engine temps and extra horsepower, does not matter how thin it is, if it reflects then it's good.. Simple test was earlier when sitting in traffic for an hour we pulled over and grabbed the air box off and it was not even warm to touch underneath, it works....

Though some may find this useful

How warm was it before?

Wow , you're aggressive aren't you ?

Who's having a laugh about it ? If you mean kowalski , i'm sure you are aware that he isn't uk based , and hence his english isn't always quite correct. I'm sure he wasn't having a pop , but anyway , i'm sure financenick appreciates your support.

What i like about it is that the OP took the time to measure the temperature before fitting it , because as we all know , the science proves the point. :thumb:

To the OP , Could you take a temperature reading with it fitted please , so we can see just how much it drops the temperature from the 183 ( C or F )?
