There appears to be a dent by the boot lock

130_10m.jpg

Don't think its mentioned in the eBay ad though.

Apart from that its a lovely motor :)

Also appears to have had paintwork on the passenger side, the driver's seat is a little worn and I can't quite make out whether theres two dents in the boot lid (one near the boot lock and maybe one near the AMG badge?)
As noted, there is no mention of the obvious dent by the lock in the listing :(

Is it me, or are the exhausts the wrong way around? Shouldn't the shorter exhaust pipe be on the outside??

And yes, there is another dink by the AMG badge...bottom of the bootlid also appears to be marked, possibly rust? It doesn't fit too well either, shut lines are well off (compare bootlid with left hand light)

I agree with what everyone has said above about the bad points of the car:

Near side door definietly looks like it has been resprayed and not done very well at all as it does not blend in with the rest of the paint as very poorly done.

I would say it needs a new bootlid and yes there is a second dent by the AMG badge and the exhaust looks odd too.

the exhausts should be the same length

My guesses are that its probably not the OEM AMG exhaust (therefore there is alot more to the car than meets the eye...) unless the owner tried to do a Brabus mod to the exhaust that went terribly wrong...

Brabus used to do beautilful angular cut tail pipe exhauts on the W124/R129 range)

Well I'm sure you are all right about the condition except:

a. The exhausts are the same length
b. Shut lines seem perfectly comparable if you switch between photo's 5 & 6 - the lenses have a bigger gap than the metal bits, but the gap looks the same both sides
c. Personally I wouldn't judge paintwork from a photo, especially not silver in a sunny photo. But I'd ask whether it has any repairs.

To me it looks like a good buy - I'd leave the boot as is and just get a new number plate at the back - more obvious than a couple of little dents and cheaper to tidy.

I agree with new plates i always put new plates on when i sell a car they can make alot of differance.
But where is he getting the wheels refurbished at £35 a wheel, the last one i had done was £76, i know you can have them done a bit cheaper but £35?

The boot appears to sit too high, but the lid is adjustable with rubber bumps either side and also at the lock, I reckon it just needs some adjustment.

As for the dents, they could probably be knocked out by someone skilled.

£35 a wheel is very good, i payed about £170 per wheel(2 piece 20" kleemann wheels) and that was with wicked wheels in crawly, we tried prestige in london but they wrecked a couple of wheels a year or so back, those CLK55's are lovely tho, my old man had one a few years back fully tuned by kleemann.....was an absolute beast!
he now has a W209 CLK55 k S6.
i would get the dents repaired and yes definatly change the plates.

www.lap-tab.co.uk quoted me £27 per wheel a few years back (£35 less 20% with Autotrader advert at the time). Didn't get them done though.

They're offering 15% discount on the website, so worth a look.

Ive recently had the outer lips polished on a set of AMG style I's, cost me £100 for the set, they centres dont usually get any damage anyway.

I thought forums were for help, not for slagging other more prosperous members off? Why cant we all help eachother?

You can help him if you buy the car. Its a trade sale, who cares if it gets a slagging or not. People are merely illustrating the bad points, if the guy was in the least concerned he would have sorted the problems before advertizing it and probably made himself some more money.

Agree...

Also, the seller does not even mention the dents on the bootlid which we can all see from the pics.

Forums are all about discussing issues and all of us expressing our opinions without offending others. I dont think anyone has "slagged" off the seller which is a trader anyay as all we have done is point out a few facts about the car.
