Went to buy a E270CDi Estate 2004 , looked stunning as you would expect, teder was 'over' charming, asked for a HPI report only to be given half a page , mileage shown 77k , got home did HPI mileage 3 yeats ago was 184k !!!
Beware Q cars near heathrow.

You should report them to Trading Standards!

To be fair though , it looks a nice car ....

They do say that the mileage is not warranted , and if you have HPI'd it and it shows loads more miles , why not use that as a bargaining tool ?

Those CDI's go on for ever , unless you are in the market for a low mileage one , i doubt you'll have any problems with it providing it has been well looked after.

I reckon you could knock a big chuck off that £7995 if you go in with the HPI report ;) and have a nice car for not too much money ....

 Just noticed it's a manual ....

To be honest, there's no real shortage of 211s, so I'm not sure I'd want to get involved in one with a chequered past.

Especially as that one is only a low spec/very high mileage example with a manual box.

Gotta be well over 200k I guess (184k 3 years ago?), so imagine how cheap you'd be able to pick one up with 200k at the auctions for?

I do agree that it's worn it's miles well though :thumb:

Did I miss the 2004 facelift?? :D

Do the manuals have dual mass flywheels? At 184k miles I'd be hoping it's very very cheap...

My CE is a manual with a dual mass flywheel. The car has now done 200k miles and when I took the gearbox out a couple of months ago, I spent fair bit of time inspecting my dual mass flywheel wondering whether I should replace it while the gearbox was out.

It was easilly within service limits so I left it..

I think MB units must be considerably better made than others.

I think the "Mileage Not Warranted" part is perfect cover when selling a car that is as dodgy as this one obviously is.

If someone bought the car without carrying out an HPI report and later found out the cars "hidden miles" the seller would only have to say "We did say that the mileage wasn't warranted" and then you are in trouble.

If they know the mileage isn't correct (lets face it, if that car had genuine 77k miles they'd be shouting this from the rooftops) then they know what the correct mileage is because traders HPI as a matter of course.

Also, this car will have the dreaded Valeo radiator and has seen a lot of action.

But the fact that the OP uncovered the hidden miles means that this car is to be avoided, at all costs.

Perhpas the dealer (and trading standards) should be notified of the correct mileage, along with a suggestion to the dealer that that they now no longer need to sit on the fence?;-) It would be interesting to find out the mileage from the previous owner/keeper.

im fairly certain he knew, as he showed only half the hpi report !( the half with no useful info on it !)
Car was very nice and drove well, 2 dents on the bodywork, cheep not matching tyres.
Wasn't bothered about the manual box. So if anyne has a 270 or 320 cdi estate with under 120k then Im looking max budget £10k

I dont think big miles are a problem, only its knowing its done big miles.
