Are there any issues with leaving the roof on a convertible down all night if parked in garage, as we have been having some really weather I thought I'd leave it down so its ready to drive away top down in morning?

I rarely closed the roof on my SLK (at night) which I drove for as a daily driver for ~4 years (Brisbane Australia). Had to close it in the parking garage at work. No problems.

It may exaggerate creases in the fabric if you do it all the time, and it will stay damp longer if you retracted the roof when wet. Personally I wouldn’t do it all the time, but I don’t think it would cause any serious issues if you do it occasionally or for a few days or even weeks at a time.

If I had a garage I'd leave mine down too !

As long as your garage isn;t a home to spiders etc who might take residence in your car !

Mines a soft top that's why I was wondering would it be ok folded for a long time, Garage is free of spiders, in fact its like a house more than a garage

As pontoneer mentions, I keep my hard top all the time in the garage due to spiders. To be fair, it doesn't take long to drop once I'm out the garage, I have to stop to close the garage door anyway!

It's a case of balancing the wear and tear on the roof mechanism and the likelihood of creases forming in the fabric causing wear issues - depends which fails first and the cost of repair.

Thank you, was kind of pointless leaving it down last night as its deffo not roof down type of day today

It's quite common for the fabric hood on an R129 to be down continuously for 5 months or so (when the hard top is on over winter).

Why, is it raining in Leicester?
It was earlier this morning but didn't last long, hasn't stopped me going out with the top down on my SL though.....

6am had rain quite bright now bit windy
At least the wind is blowing the smoke away on the fire by Next, Enderby.......

My garage is too spidery....so it’s roof up for me when tucked away! But without spider issue I’d leave it down no problem.

The fabric top might be a concern if screwed up for a long time, but for a hydraulic operation top, keeping it moving up and down is probably a good thing
I always put the top up on my silk (but thats a metal roof)
