looking at buying a CLS shooting brake.
are they chain driven?
any key areas to look out for when buying one. any advise welcome.
TIA
James.

They're nice cars James, I had two 218s.
Look for obvious things like HPI clear, FSH, no scrapes to under side, no dings to wheels inside or out.
If going diesel, then the facelift is Euro6, the earlier is Euro5. Get the 3 litre V6 if you can, superb engine, pulls like a train. Should start and idle quietly. Change up and down should be smooth in EC&S modes. Watch the rear end as it can slide entertainingly.
Check the self levelling suspension as air bag replacement costs. Saying that, the airmatic option is well worth it.
It's only really a 4 seater, the middle bench is an uncomfortable perch even for a child.
Boot space is big enough.
Opt for premium plus if possible. Opt for 360 camera and side mirror warning if poss.
If the exterior colour is dark then look for a lighter interior trim otherwise they can be murky, especially with tinted rear glass.
Sublime motorway crushers though 👍👍
