Hi i am having some issues with the 2 front air struts and looking to see what people are replacing them with other than oem?

Avoid a dealer like Covid! I had one replaced for £1600 - dealers!

Never again.....

I would definitely check with a dealer first.

A genuine strut is circa £740/each and a friendly dealer will probably make it even cheaper.

You can get a Bilstein shock from Autodoc for £1070 , remanufactured Arnott is £516 and a new one is £890.

For me it'a clear win for a genuine part.

£1.6k would have factored in the high dealer labour rates.

Also factor in the requirement for STAR recalibration of ride height and zero point for auto-levelling

Mercedes were around £700 per strut, im sure last time i checked few years ago they were over £1000 each

Hi,
Please bare in mind that the Airmatic struts are different on the AMG.
I have never trusted the aftermarket ones not to compromise the cars handling
I have replaced both my front struts on my CLS55 over the past 4 years, and to be honest I was surprised how "cheap" they were from MB and I am pretty sure they are available exchange now, this may or may not indicated a re-manufactured unit I think its more of an exercise in keeping control of the old units and stopping them entering the aftermarket refurb repair loop
