Hey all!

Since I'm new to W219 and AMG, what size discs and pads go for 55 AMG model as standard?

If I wanted to upgrade my discs and pads to larger than OEM size, how large discs have you used and which calipers have you installed for those larger than OEM discs and pads?

I'm going to replace all my discs and pads in a week and was thinking on having an upgrade for stopping power since there will be a major engine upgrade as well.

I found the OEM set-up on my CLS55 much more than adequate. The SBC system is supremely competent, feels very strong and well balanced.
Are you looking to track the car, or just road use?

CLS55 brakes are already top of their game. 8 pot calipers and discs from the SLS.
I have not thought of track use yet. Most probably for streets but I was just thinking if there was any easy upgrade over stock then I would go for it because I'm replacing all discs and pads anyways. But then again if you say OEM ones are more than enough then why not stick to OEM. I just feel like they are a bit small compared to never 63 models etc. Rear ones look specially small compared to newer AMG-s.

You have pretty big wheels Chris ;) You could try better pads (I use EBC YellowStuff) and better brake fluid (I use OEM which is fine for road use). If you can get Michelin PS4S tyres in 20” they would vastly improve the ride and grip. We have a saying ‘Spend the most you can on tyres - because they are the only thing that connect you to the road!’ :)

I agree. I changed the hoses to braided hoses on my E55 and no difference was felt. They are pretty good as it is

Do you have 360mm or 380mm discs front?? I see brembo which is OEM for mercedes, only sells 380mm discs to the front but mine are 360mm. What should I do? Order some random 360mm discs or switch out my calipers? I believe I do have OEM calipers. Can I put 380mm discs on the calipers which currently house my 360mm?

They are 360mm which I believe is OEM size. I don’t think you can use the same callipers on 380mm discs. Do you have Euro Car Parts (CarParts4Less) there? That’s where I buy mine from. The brakes are 8 pot and very good for stopping this near 2 ton car from high speed. I always thought they were one of the best features of the car - it goes, and it stops :)
