Really happy bunny today, I found a really great condition Front drivers carpet for my car. The one in the car has really bad wear where my foot rests while driving, its worn through. It had really been bugging me ever since i got the car, I have been looking for a replacement constantly. Today I managed to find one and I bought it straight away.

I have been looking through the epc etc and I cant seem to find any info on a fitting/replacement procedure.

Has anyone had to take their front carpet out and refit it? I am scouring the forums but haven't found anything yet.

The rest of the carpets in the car are in excellent condition, so i really looking forward to getting this in and the old one out.

The carpet has arrived, will have to wait until next week to be fitted, then its a full interior detail with all the carpets being cleaned up too.

Nice to see that the front carpet can be removed individually although I'm not sure if they still can on the newer models.

I once removed the driver's side front on my sons CLK and spent about half an hour with the Karcher cleaning out all the muck and grime.
It came up almost like new so it may be worth saving your old one !

the old one has a large area thats been rubbed away by the previous owner, its just the black backing... mind you saying that, imagine if its just boot polish thats congealed over the years.... might have to give it the old steam clean to see however, I will keep it as its good for patching should it ever need it.

Hi,
Removing the carpet is reasonably straight forward have removed mine in my CLS more than once.
You will need to pry off the side sill trim, lift the door seal in the area of the kick panel and remove it (One screw behind a trim cover iirc)
The lower dash panel, 3 or 4 screws, and remove the bonnet release mechanism from it and remove from car.
You will also have to remove the throttle pedal assembly, to do this you need to remove the pedal hinge pin, fold it back you will see two round caps lift these off remove the nuts, unplug electrical connection and remove pedal.
Then release the carpet from behind the centre console, and pull it away in the area of the pedals, with the seat all the way back lift the carpet up an manipulate out of the car.
Sounds a lit to do but it really isn't if I had to do mine again it would take approx 20-30 minutes to do.
Hope you get it sorted,

Got the old carpet out, surprised how easy it was. I just took the interior door sill off, the carpet side panel and undid the bolt holding the accelerator pedal and it came out. I am just giving it a light clean before refitting the replacement. My ocd is happy now as every other carpet is prestine in the car. Off to the detailer next week for a full interior clean. Old carpet and the used replacement (couldn't find a new unused anywhere)
