I got the wheel alignment done today and what was a very small drift to left has now turned into quite a noticeable one

The wheel alignment shop swapped tyres and no noticeable difference - pull still there

I've read the thread with wheels in motion and it seems this is a trait

Issue being I dont think we have anyone over this side of the pond with specialist knowledge to actually resolve ! Something about manipulating the caster ?

The rear was not done as the adjusters were seized and he did not want to risk breaking them....could the rear be a big factor here ?

Is there anything else in the meantime I could get checked over
car has had recent upper arms and upper/lower balljoints

1. Tyre drift... if the tyres are not directional, swap over the front tyres right-left and see what happens.

2. To confirm that road camber is not a factor, find an empty car park (e.g. the remote part of motorway services) and drive back and forth along the same stretch.

3. Not sure about the mechanics of wheel alignment... but you need full geometry check including rear wheels thrust.

Thanks Mark
no.1 they tried and no difference
I'll try no 2

The car has AIRmatic so you need to check the ride height is within spec each corner or the geometry will be out. My local MB dealer did a great job on mine setting the ride height and adjusting the suspension, no drift on my CLS55

Cost ?

Paid £120 IIRC. Took them a good 2hrs, so I got a bargain I reckon..

Must investigate buddy ! Did they lower it on STAR for you ?

My local MB quoted me £270 this morning to do a full set up

Plus attending to any seized bolts and any suspension parts they deem to be worn.

I'd be careful as it's very possible you'll end up with little or nothing for that initial outlay. Might be wiser to get a cheap ferry ticket and book an appointment with Wheels in Motion.

Front and rear MUST be perfect to help remove as much as the "pull" as possible. Tyre choice and tread pattern also make a difference.

Are all of your suspension joints, bushes 100% wear free? Front and rear needs to be checked.

It's going into a local independent on 18th for a service so I'll get them to have a look

I'll also see if they can free up the rear so it can be adjusted approroiately like Olly states

Ive ordered the lower arm camber bolts too so it can be set up properly

Creevy's?

The most critical angle regarding a pull is the castor and yet they never measured it?

Hi WIM

Unsure why not - would
It be because the caster isn't adjustable ?

Is there a specific type of machine you would recommend me getting a set up completed with when j get the MB camber Bolts installed?

I've read hunter alignment is good?

Yes Shaun

Creevy

Where are you based !? Do You by chance work
In the gasworks ?
Yep, I do indeed.

As for your alignment issue, I've used Carryduff tyres for a good while now, on recommendation by Creevy's
They're also pretty good when it comes to tyre prices I've found.
