CLS SB with yacht stylie wooden floor

Trouble is, you’d want a boot liner to protect the wood - and then you’d never see it

Exactly, I saw this on the options when we purchased our SB but not for me.
I’ve got a custom made boot tray in mine which I had in my Jaguar XF.
It’s a plastic grow bag tray which is held in place via bungee cord onto the rear luggage anchorage points. It holds four shopping bags perfectly without sliding all over the boot plus if I purchase smaller items I simply place them in the tray. It also holds the walking boots keeping the mud off the boot carpet.
It’s easy to unclip to access the lower compartment.

I was going to say, with the boot liner fitted you ‘woodn’t see it’, then saw sense. There, I’ve said it now :D

Liked it so much When I first saw it I dId the boot of my jeep like that.
cost me a total of 40 quid because I made it reversible and used a 10 quid mat from Lidl.

The removal handle was a towel rail that I liberated from the skip.

I detect a very slight difference in fit and finish 😁

Iirc correctly the V12 diesel q7 had a individual complete wood option like this that added a 1/4 tonne to it's already Porkie girth !

Ironically when you are invited on to a yacht the first thing you do is remove your shoes so the deck does not get damaged.

You see this a lot on custom pick up trucks in the USA, pick up trucks that never get used as pick up trucks because they do not want to damage the nice wooden load bed

It's a very tidy example and well appointed colour and trim. It's a shame that the cherry wood theme isn't continued in the car, though I do like the wood trim that's in there at the moment.

It's just a shame that it's a diesel... I'm not a fan.

It looks OK, but at £4k, it's style over substance personified, and like most wacky accessories, adds nothing to the resale value of the car. Louis Vuitton and a bottle of the Widow in a seven-year-old oil burner? Yeah, right....

I always loved the look until someone pointed out to me that it looks like the flooring in a hearse, the part the coffin slides on to... 🤔

I have to admit the CLS Shooting brake does look like a hearse with the dark tinted windows, even though hearse’s don’t have tinted windows.

When attending a funeral recently my car was mistaken as part of the cortège as several funeral companies in our area use Mercedes.

I’m not referring to the CLS SB - I love them, they’re my favourite estate car - I’m on about that wooden boot flooring looks like a hearse floor the coffin sits on.

Suspect most buyers purchase the optional made to measure mat to go over the wooden floor.
