CLS Upgrade from APS50-CD to Comand

Hi,
bought -05 CLS with APS50-CD, I know it´s difficult to change to Comand because all the Navi wiring from back and AGW etc.
But if I don´t need navi,only play CD and watch DVD, is it just plug´n´play, take old one out and put a new one in?
Or if I change to APS50 with Navi,it still needs new wiring?

Get the 2009 version. That way you have less to do.

Is this a US CLS? Aren't all Audio 50 head units in Europe actually Audio 50 APS units? I thought Audio 50 would come with AGW and then the old Comand would be simpler, specifically without navigation?

Sorry, I meant now I have Audio-20CD , early morning or something.... So, changing this to APS50 or Comand, without Navi working, is it possible?
Well APS50 with Navi working,otherwise there´s no point, or Comand without Navi, just because it looks nicer and some more functions.

Get the 2009 version, that way you have less to do.

Maybe not worth the money? I have TomTom if I need good navigation, so that´s not the reason for buying new Comand..

OK, perhaps miro new that from some other context, I would certainly agree with his advice then.

Is it worth the money? Quite impossible to answer, how long are you going to have the car and how much do you need navigation & HF etc.? If I was planning to have the car for a couple of years, I would certainly consider it worth over the €100 investment on a TomTom but I'm sure the correct answer for someone else would be the opposite.

I fail to see that anyone with a Mercedes would want a garfield or a Tom Tom stuck to their glass.

If all you want to do is play DVD movies then it is plug and play. Straight swap from APS50 to Comand head unit as you should already have all the wiring in place plus the AGW in the boot/trunk. More work if you want navigation aswell but not too much.

The 2009 version is a lot lot nicer though.

I have the 2009 version in my car. It's so much better than the DVD based version. IF you can do it - then go for it...

Yep, I have Audio20.

So that NTG 2.5 is what I should get, thought not in ebay yet..? But if it´s thousands of euros,pounds,dollars,whatever need to think it over again.

Is that dreaming instead of thinking, or are you talking about different integration from the one you get with an NTG2.5? Do you actually mean a nice installation? It would never look like it was meant to be a part of your Mercedes. But it is your car...

you notice that BMW just made it so that there were 2 different dashboards. One with navigation and one without. Those BMW people know how to put people in their place. No purchase ... no choice.

Agreed. I didnt spot that

Reference the issue with BMW; The fact that the whole dashboard needs changing is the the one issue that means that we cannot offer retrofits for BMW's
