CLS vs CL55

the seller is not exactly doing himself much favours, providing the wrong reg (gy52dzv), not answering any basic questions i had about the car (extras on the car etc). No photos on the website even.

Sometimes I wonder if dealers want to sell cars or not.

A lot of trade seems to be like this.

I've no doubt some customers are a royal PITA but some trade are the same!

I remember enquiring about mine - really helpful chap and although not really knowledgeable on the specifics (which didn't matter as I usually know more than the person selling the car anyway), just the whole attitude was a breath of fresh air.

What's your budget? I may be selling my CL55 in a few weeks. 54 plate, 50k miles & FMBSH. Send me a PM.

The seller not doing himself any favours at all, If I had a car to sell i would be doing my best to cooperate with the punter, not many people want 13+ year old 5.5L cars.

London drivers?

Mercedes CL55 AMG 504BHP F1 Paddle Shift (cl65,sl55,c63,cl63,sl63,cls55) | eBay

I called the owner of this and keen to probe it a bit more, is anyone in or around London to check this out? (can reimburse)

The MOT shows up quite a few issues (leaking struts, ball joint play etc) that the seller is not aware of, either all these issues are sorted or I am getting fobbed off.

Any thoughts? 10k is about my budget although I could potentially stretch a bit more, Alex has a stunning 04 but its not for sale yet and maybe a 03 will be sufficent.

The late 03 (52 reg) model near me with 120k miles doesnt have keyless go which I would like.

cheers.

The wheels look ****!!

As you know, leaking struts = £££££ to be spent.

Ball joints aren't cheap either, they come as one unit within the lower arm, £150 for the part from Mercedes and they are a pain in the backside to fit, if you can't remove the pins from the strut you are looking at a new strut too!!!

I know all this, hence wondering if anyone thinks its worth a look at? The advisories are years back so clearly it looks like they were fixed, I am wondering why the seller doesn't have something to say on the matter either in the form of paperwork carried out or whatnot.

Getting second hand cars sure is a pain in the nut.

These are what I want to dig into more, everything else on the MOT seems wear and tear issues with tyres, discs and pads

That is going back a long time ago!

so either the faults magically vanished or substantial work was carried out on the suspension

Well you would know straight away if the ball joints had been done, I've done both of mine and before hand they had the most annoying squeak even ever over the smallest of bumps!

The struts, well they are easy enough to check for leaks but I doubt a strut with a leak from 9/10 years ago would have "held on" that long...

Oil leak is common, the cam covers always leak on the 55AMG, it's easy enough to DIY.

Wait for Alex CL.
