Currently I have 255/35/19 (fronts) 285/30/19 (rears) all summer tyres all round. I have been considering all season tyres all round however no one seems to do the rears in all season, its either summer or winter.

Question is would 18" OEM (8.5J X 18H2 ET34.5 5 STUD 5X112) alloys fit on to my W218 (350 CDI AMG Sports)? The tyre size would be 255/40/18 all round? Also considering my current wheels have tyre pressor sensors on, when changing over to 18's which would have its on set of tyre sensors on, would it need to be coded to the car etc? Any pit falls I should be looking out for?

Thank you all in advance.

Check your owner's handbook for recommended wheel/tyre combos for winter.
The new set would need to be registered to the car for TPMS function. (dealer or any tyre shop could do this)

Regarding TPMS
Get programmable replacement sensors, (e.g I-Sensor), rather than OEM, then have them cloned with the information from your existing sensors.
Change the wheels over from set to set and the car can't tell the difference, only problem don't store the spare wheels in your garage with the car otherwise the ECU picks up more than one reading on start up and could "throw a wobbly".

Can the car not hold two registered sets of TMPS sensors?

I don't know with this model, possibly.
Generally it is only possible on very late models of vehicle with a dash display that includes a setting for Summer/Winter tyres even then it often does nothing other than to warn you of reduced speed limits on winter tyres. (in some countries).
In my experience generic programmable sensors are cheaper and more powerful than OEM (because they have to work with any system) and retaining the I.D codes already in use guarantees a successful wheel swap-over first time.

Thank you very much for the useful information. Theres much to think about, from memory I believe I can select summer or winter tyres from the information cluster on the dash. If the car can hold two sets of wheels then that would be ideal. Either way im going to have to get a set of winter wheels.
