How do I remove the instrument cluster? I know that I got to take the plastic surround out first and than undo the bolts underneath but what to do with the reset button which sticks out of the wood panel?
Do I have to dismantle the wide wood piece of trim first to get to it?

No need to dismantle first. Once you have the plastic trim surround removed and the screws removed that hold the instrument cluster in place you'll just need to carefully pull on the reset knob. Make sure you have the steering column adjusted to lowest and furthest points to give you more room before you remove the battery in preparation.

If you have the battery disconnected you might just as well take the steering wheel off first.
