Don't know if this is the correct section, apologies if not.

Right, had my CLS since feb this year and under warranty some of the front parking sensors were replaced. When speaking with a few specialist they all said they were rubbish and you'll always be replacing them.

Now, i tavel up and down the motorway every day, therefore my car gets peppered with flies, stones and owt else that gets flicked up at it.

I now have the same issue as when i purchased the car with the parking sensors.

My question is, do i just leave it and switch them off everytime i use the car, or do i replace the faulty ones as and when and do they reallyfail that often?

Had mine for 3 years without a problem. Water ingress (read pressure washer) is usually the thing that brings faults.
I'd replace any faulty ones as the parking aid can be pretty useful, especially at night.

I have been cought up in some very bad almost monsoon rain on the motorway the last few days. And that's probably when it started to play up.

Do i need a star session to find the failed ones or can i use my OBDII reader?

STAR will indicate which one , don't think a generic will pinpoint it.

They aren't fortunes and are easy to fit , you will need to paint them though.

Thought the bumper had to come off, saying that ive seen some marks in the lower grill as if thats been out to do it last time.

Does anyone have a link to tryed and tested sensors, seem to be a big price difference on FleeBay.

Hi Tigerade, what are your symptoms you are experiencing again? as I was wondering if same as mine. I've had my w219 since last November and the front sensors seem way too sensitive.

They're only about £50 from MB.....

Bought a set of 4 sensors for 30 quid of eBay, China it came from
My cls all sweet now

Can you post up a link please. I have replaced several since my ownership, and now they are playing up again! bought genuine MB ones every time, and if I thought I could get away with it, I would just turn them off and leave them off, but I think they are a must on the W219.
Bumper off each time!

One of my front sides has went wonkey - Would one sensor
Stop the whole side from not registering on the display ?

Thanks - my left side was working perfectly but no Red lights
Or audible beep To signal any issue

I took to cleaning the sensors tonight with a cleaner and some fairy liquid and then used a hairdryer to blow out the water

I've now got two red Dots on dash and audible
Beep for both front sides now so it's
Done something (if not only alerted the system
To the dud sensor)

I'll wait overnight to dry off to see if anything works in the am

No luck with cleaning/drying out

sensor display stopped illuminating with 2 reds/beep again today and pass side is working normally however diddly squat from drivers side

car was just in on friday for it's A service too with local independent :(

Looks like a visit back to determine faulty sensor

One of the front sensors on my wife's "A" class was damaged by a stone and although the sensor is only about £40.00 the dealership quoted £350 to remove the bumper and fit the new sensor. I've been meaning to have a go myself for about two years now.

A joke eh ?
They so seem to be super sensitive (and pretty ****e) on the whole quality wise

May be possible to replace without removing the bumper, just dependsif you can get access to the connector and retaining clip.

MB will always quote for the workshop book method to replace, even if they simply reach up behind and pop them out...

Can anyone give me a part number and approximate cost ?
