CLS350 Cdi Shooting Brake
Hello all

As some of you may have seen in my intro post, I’ve just bought a CLS350 Shooting Brake.

I was investigating a little vibration under braking and when I removed the nearside front wheel, it has clearly suffered some major damage at some point (pothole?) and been refurbished badly. Nice paint, bad workmanship. There are so many wheel weights I think it may be time for a new one.

Can anyone recommend a set of aftermarket 19’s in 8.5j ET34.5 and 9.5j ET38 for the vehicle as I’m not sure I can afford to spend £3k on a set of genuine AMG 19’s.

The wheels fitted have also been spray painted (sadly not powder coated) gunmetal grey at some point so if I was to source an AMG wheel I’d have to paint the lot 🤦‍♂️

Cheers
Ben

ebay is your friend. some do exchange powder coated sets at around £400 all fitted. Just depends if the have yours in stock. Your wheel maybe just slightly out of true which most good wheel refurbishers can sort.

I will keep an eye out on eBay for sure. I’m always a bit wary of the unknown quality etc. Do you have any personal recommendations of wheel repairers?

I got the rear offset wrong, it is ET48. Wheel specs as follows:

Front - 8.5j ET34.5
Rear - 9.5j ET48

Don't pin all your hopes of solving the brake problem by changing a wheel.

No of course. It’s just one part of the puzzle. More so just looking at the damage to the wheel. It like it’s been badly covered up - just painted rather than repaired.

I think what you should do is give me your car (shiny) and pretend you never had it??? I could spend some quality time with it and have a good repairing grope ;)

If you have a TWS (the wheel specialist) near you I have found them very good. They have refurbed and straightened both my sets of 19" AMGs. They often get put out of true or even cracked by pot holes, as they are pretty poorly made and quite fragile even if you are careful

Aparently there is one in Fareham, Farnborogh and

Bournemouth if that helps. They powder coat if i remember correctly.

I just looked outside and my driveway is still empty, I have to say your delivery service is shocking.. Not to worry though I have lots of new shiny things to put on mine when I return!! ;)

We tried to deliver it but you weren’t in so we threw it over the fence.

What shiny bits await @unclebuck?
