CLS55 Exhaust Mod

Excellent, I used Profusion exhausts on a e61 545i estate. I had them install straight pipes for me and remove mufflers. It was ok for a while but like you say it gets a little wearing. The valve option is great 👍

If I remember correctly Raj, was the guy I delt with. Little industrial estate in around Heathrow.

Your 55k sounds a beast btw 😄👍

The cost wasn't to bad either and to have the opening closing at the press of a switch is spot on. Nice set up. 👍

Sorry it could be Jag, who I dealt with. Really know there stuff and was really helpful in listening to what sort of sound I was after. And great work also.
Thats is. Raj is the Son and Jag is the Father. Ace team and work. Also, thanks for the kind words. Took a lot of thinking but am always going to go with valves or go the forbidden route and get an EV. Btw with EV profusions do speaker exhaust setups. Actually does sound alright too

'True dual' in American parlance and sound brilliant without having to be loud. It's what I have and it's remarkable how many people tell me how much they like the sound. They like the sound it makes - not because it's LOUD.
I agree with you. Ive heard h pipe and true dual setups and they do sound really nice. Might do that next

Will try and make a video of it. Below is one I made but its with valves open

Having done both a x pipe and then later a secondary cat delete i will advise you to get both done. Yes the x pipe adds "some" volume but removing the cats will give you that raw v8 noise under heavy acceleration (as seen in vid posted by KH). There is no drone with x pipe and 2nd cat delete however i did find with just an xpipe there was some droning around 60mph+. They're still quiet on warm tick over and if driven sensibly you can still sneak home at night without everyone calling you a w@nker.

It was £200 for the cat delete and £200 for the x-pipe - both fabricated.

Looking in your area The Hastings Classic & Custom Exhaust Centre look like they'd do the job and are well reviewed.

Mines going back up on the ramp in a couple of weeks so I can get a full underside pick if needed

Secondary cat delete plus X-pipe is the best option - sounds like a Messerschmitt when you open the taps yet better than a Tesla burbling away gently at motorway speeds ;)

Not the best or longest video but here’s how it sounds on idle with valve open then you can here the valves shut and it sounds near enough stock

The secondary cat and resonator removal along with a x-pipe was the way Imran at MSL seemed to advise on 55's
It won't sound as good as a 63 unless you can get hold of and adapt C63/CLS63 back boxes.
For some reason, CLS55's exhausts always sounded less soundproofed and better than the E55's to me.

c63 back boxes and headers is the perfect sound imo, no drone too.

I've read a few forums (mostly states) where they say the e55 boxes have more perforated internal pipes to deaden the sound into the internal baffle etc. Whether that is true but E55 always comes out as being tamer sounding even with the cats / x pipe.

The E55 was the most restrained sound from all its contemporaries (CLS55/CLS63/C63 etc.).

There was a mod you could do to the E55 back boxes which removed some of the baffle and welded in a C shape pipe to lessen the effects but not introduce drone. Many years ago, I spoke to Olly at PCS about trying it but I could never spare mine overnight as I used it for work.

Easier to fit CLS55/C63 back boxes I would think.

This was the E55K belonging to MOR8A (member on here) with C63 back boxes:
