Do find my car seems rather slow to go up the
gears in manual mode , it feels like an age to feel
the next gear , I know you can have a map on the
Soft wear but would this speed it up or is it just
how this old rugged box is !!

If you change gears in anything other mode than "Manual" it will be slower but i do agree with what you saying, gear changing is very slow in my CLS too. I believe you can have TCU remap done which may help and also you can "reset gear changes and make the car learn again" this is very manual task and then car will adapt to your style of driving.

I believe Oli has done it for few people in past and it made a huge difference.

I would however suggest you find out when the last ATF change was as this also make the gearbox rather sluggish and new oil/filter will sort that out properly.

I know exactly what you mean, manual is useless unless you want to hold a drift. When accelerating in 1>2>3, it hits the limiter even if you've tapped the paddle 1 second earlier (to avoid the limiter).

Sport shifts work much better so I just use sport mode all the time.

I'd be interested to know if TCU remaps make a worthwhile difference to the manual mode?

Well at least I'm not on my own with this ;)
I usually use S mode anyways .
