I'm after rebuilding my supercharger but can't seem to find any info on doing it?, have many people on the forum had it done or even done it themselves? Want to know if there's a kit you can buy or even if there's any popular specialists that do them?
Whenever I search online i end up at the weistec website and I just can't afford one of them!!

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the links, still unsure on where to buy the bits from.

The lad who's removed the supercharger for me has found someone in the north east local to me that's going to look at it for me.

Although from what he's said it doesn't sound good for me as mines had water in it and the lad has said it's normally cheaper and easier to replace it.

If possible I'll ask for pictures to pop on here but he sounds like an old school guy, will see what I can do!

What do you mean by rebuild? What's wrong with it?

Water in it? What on earth happened!

A few weeks ago I was in my car over Cumbria way and (stupidly) went through a puddle a little too deep. Luckily my engines fine but the water must of dried out all the bearings etc in the supercharger as when you turn it over by hand you can hear and feel them. And when the engine is running it sound very very loud.

Still operated fine but I'm scared the bearing overheat/explode and parts could end up anywhere in the engine/supercharger causing a lot of damage!

They don't seam to be a common thing to rebuild though

I would suggest speaking to someone like ACID @ MSL?

I've just sent Msl an email, everyone else I've been recommended doesn't do them. Can't find a kit anywhere, not even Mercedes themselves.

my option at the moment is to buy a second hand one, but for the price of them it's a big gamble for something that also may not work!

Starting to get sick of this now, and it's been in the garage for almost 2 months now, the mechanics getting sick of the sight of it! Haha

I pointed a couple of people who have spare chargers after their Weistec conversions done to this thread.

I would be tempted to take it apart and press new bearings in. An engineering firm may be able to tackle this for you.

I've read on threads that once the rear SC bearings go, they cant be replaced. I greased mine when I had mine apart but it would be good to know if there are any new bearings that can be swapped over. Do you know of any Alx?

Hi,
If you look at my links earlier in this thread replacement bearings and their availability is discussed, if available these bearings would have to be specially made due to their specific application type and size. I believe there was someone on MB World in discussion with the OEM manufacturer in Japan about doing a limited run of bearings to the original design, though it doesn't look like they posted back on what happened "yet".

I read on MB world that there are no replacements and thought Alx may know of some after his post as he tends to know a lot about the 55K's. Cheers.

I haven't taken a supercharger apart but PSE in America had in the past rebuilt the AMG chargers so I'd approach them for advice on repair or the spare bearings.

mine was just completed. i had it rebuilt because once i shut off my engine i could hear a residual sound coming from my SC for approx 3 seconds. bearings were shot internally. sent it to PSE in oklahoma. i believe he told me there are 6 bearings inside our SC. i highly doubt its a DIY to rebuild the internals due to the adhesive holding the SC together and what it takes to re-shim and align the gears/bearings inside. the cost was approx $1800. the SC sounds great now. i was told they replaced all the bearings with shielded bearings with higher speed ratings and use a special grease (viperlube?). they will also do porting and polishing work for extra money. took 2 months for the job to be completed which they said is longer then normal. just make sure wherever u send ur SC that you package it with so much padding and wrap it so well with bubble wrap that its indestructible.

From here.

Thanks for the replies,

I've been in contact with powerhouse automotive and they say they can't do it or source the parts, recommended I had a look at some American companies.

However the person working on my car has split my supercharger and it removing the rear bearings (they're the ones that are noisy) to take to a local place to see if they can make some new ones up. Hopefully thiss will work otherwise I'll probably look into getting a second hand supercharger as the cars been at the garage for over a month now
