Clunk in steering

When car is stationary I hear a clunk noise when i turn my steering wheel left and right, i think its coming from left side

car also swerves with almost its own force to right on turning right when turning in a road at very slow speed, and also on going over bumps left side feels its loosing its balance

am i right in thinking the track rod end needs replacing? or could it be steering rack problem?, no juddering on high speed on motorway

Could be a number of things.

Someone needs to get underneath and examine all the joints and linkages.

Is the MOT due? That would be a good examination

Thanks Merc Owner 2B, yes due for MOT end of next month, might just get it checked out this week. Loving this car! So many features for a 16 year old car, dont know why i didnt get one long ago!

Steering rack? Any joy getting it looked at?

Yeah had an MOT as well as a normal check....apparantly everything from steering point of view and underneath was in very good condition for the age of the car....just needed tracking done

They all told me this clunk is normal

I have this clung too, only with engine off. Did you solve it? I recently had bearings replaced on steering rods but no change.
