Does mileage get stored on cluster display or is it in the ecu in the car on w202 - w208 - w210 cars?

if buying a used cluster from a car that was driven 200.000 miles and my car was only driven 60.000 miles, does my mileage 60.000 miles appear on the donor cluster or does 200.000 miles mileage from the other donor car show up?

my friends cluster fu--ed up and he needs to get another one from a donor car.
mileage on cluster above a certain driving mileage is it possible to rectify to show less with software programs, there are shady pro's doing such stuff for a buck?
when my friend gets a donor cluster, he needs to match the new one to his mileage from the broken cluster

The displayed mileage is stored on the Odomenter in the cluster, but it is also stored in the EIS and ECU.

Assuming he really is going adjust the mileage to the same as his, then the mileage correction software will do that Ok.
