You have to be careful with Windows Vista/7/8 and OBDII software. in most cases the drivers won't work so you have to shop around to find updated version that do. However, there are 2 possible workarounds. 1. Right click the icon for the prog and select properties, go to compatibility tab and change compatibility mode to Windows XP and select run as administrator. 2. In win 7 ultimate I downloaded Windows XP mode module which is effectively runs XP in an emulator window or full screen. This allows you to run most older software for car diagnostic on newer machines.

You can get XP mode from microsoft here

Hi there, I have used it on windows 8 (not 8.1) and I am currently using it on windows 7.

I have had to install win 7 as my other test equipment (scopes and function generators) will not run with windows 8. CDP+ did run on windows 8 though...

Just double checked, it was £90, not 80.... sorry.. I have just checked my ebay history and found the page. It is from UK supplier!!!!

Hi I do apologise windows 7 32bit is what I have that's how often I use the laptop sorry, and for the money your set up sounds really good have you got a separate laptop to run the software as I'm not a computer wiz kid so I'm thinking may be I would be better off with another laptop just to run this software as I could just keep it for this perpose.

Will this rest/clear SRS lights?

Hi

If you are on a tight budget then think of using the mobile app route most updates are free on android however windows and ios tend to charge with new updates or "versions"

Plus something people aren't aware that in android you can take screenshots of the fault codes and print via google cloud print on your pc. (just add the printer on your google account.

Software is always going to be the real make or break. The equipment now is pretty generic and as I mentioned you can get a bluetooth OBDII unit for less than £5.

Ivini offers a comprehensive Mercedes app for 40€ that covers the vast majority of models that use the OBDII interface including some older models that use the old 38pin OBD which you can buy an adapter to OBDII for £7.50 or 10€

I know it's lazy but is there a list of software somewhere in the forum? I found the excellent list of fault codes! A comprehensive list of mobile apps as well as Win IOS would be handy, especially with ratings by those who have used them!.

I use my Autocom on my general use lappie. (I use it for emails, streaming movies, emails and gaming) I am running windows 7 (64 bit) and the Autocom works brilliantly.

As far as the software is concerned, It is updated to 2014, so any vehicle before 2014 is covered with no update needed. The software supplied is, how do I say this diplomatically..... unofficial?

But it does work great. The Wurth WOW software is 2015 version. But as I mentioned earlier I prefer the supplied software.

No subscription fees for obvious reasons..... :D

Yes... I will admit that I have never done it (not needed to) but it picks up the SRS controller and will allow the SRS to be reset. If you have an ongoing fault, then the light will come back on.

It will also reset service lights as well......

Hope this helps

Hi Phil, does your car have parktronic & if so can this unit see the parktronic controller.
Thanks.

Thanks.

Unfortunately I do not have Parktronic..... So I could not answer that question......

But, if you let me know the year and model of your vehicle, I could have a look and see if I could check that out on the software without connecting it to the car.

It does have ISS (Intelligent System Scan) which should pick up all the systems on a vehicle.....

(I have had a glance, and there are about 9 system variants.... maybe one of those would cover parktronic.... but I really would not like to commit one way or the other....)

Ok thanks for looking my car is a W204 (cclass 180k) 59 plate.

I did remember to scroll up and have a look at your info...

As I said, I have looked, and unfortunately because the variants are selected by the ISS, I really cannot say if it will pick up the parktronic without connecting it to the car.

I have checked the Delphi software (that came with my Autocom) and also on the new software I have which is the Wurth WOW. The Wurth software allows the download of specific manufacturer data such as the Mercedes package.

Unfortunately I cannot give you more info at the minute. However, I have had an email from a chap in Huddersfield who may want to try out the system on his car.... If he has parktronic, then I will know for certain. I will post any findings once I know.

+1 on Delphi Ds150e

I use it for my garage and I have never been stuck yet.

Still getting used to what it can do on the Merc

I am sure it can recode the Towbar settings as well...

+2 on the Delphi 150E I used it last week to re code the D/injectors on my wife's 1.6Tdci focus & this week I am going to run a regen on the DPf filter.

It will also wind in the rear cailpers on Audi's etc, excellent & has paid for itself many time's over .

Will the Delphi and autocom run on windows 7 32 bit and I must say that both of these seem to be by far the best value for money It looks like I will get one of these soon but I'm reading this thread with great interest to myself and I'm sure others are too I just hope you can all post more info as you get it thanks

Ok then please exept my lack of knowledge especially computer wise, so first off is it best/easier if I get windows xp, if that's the case I would prefer to get a second hand laptop and get it set up on Xp and just keep it for this perpose . Also would do I still need virtual pc to run both diagnostics if they were run on XP thanks and I apologise again for my lack of knowledge ta steve.
