Is it possible to do coding and what are the options here?

Please use the forum search function, virtually all of your questions have been asked/answered on here for the past decade :)

Far easier to post;). Quicklook and all towbar nonsense. Just looking for options, coders, decent apps or software and equipment needed.

It is easier to post, but its just lazy. please use the existing archive of information on here!

My previous post was made in good humour. I did review using the search function and didn’t find what I was looking for and therefore I wouldn’t expect a moderator to add further comment where none is required.

I have no idea what you are after. ;)

Perhaps a search is the best option. as advised

Just wanted to know if any options like rear DRLs, any benefits using Carly, changing the sound on lock, video in motion

Proper Coding is only possible with original MB computer kit and Online connection to MB in Germany. Talk to forum sponsors www.comandonline.co.uk who have all of the required kit and knowledge. You'll need to bring your car to them in Lightwater though. And, they can also update the firmware on relevant ECUs (e.g. COMAND). Note that they are a reputable firm and won't do anything illegal such as video-in-motion.

It is possible to do some coding using Xentry developer mode. I have coded folding mirrors, NTG sat-nav upgrades and UK delete. Despite numerous service updates from MB dealership these codings have never been overwritten and 'reset' in the last 8 years or so.

I haven't done it, but I seem to remember to overwrite, the speed when the video turns off. I don't actually know if this will have any effect and not intending to find out since it is illegal to do so in the UK.

Where do you get hold of Xentry?

Hi
Reading what car you have ie C63S then I doubt you will be able to do anything meaningful as all control unit adaptations require an online connection with MB to even read them let alone change them.
To code you're own control units there are ways and means using programs such DTS Monaco or Vediamo but it is insanely difficult to understand, and instant bricking of control units if you make an error, and still has to be used in conjunction with Xentry.
Earlier cars such as my 219 (2006 MY), uses DAS diagnostic and a lot more coding was available to do manually but even with these vehicles some control units were not accessible, as the cars got newer less and less control units could be coded manually
To be honest newer cars there are very few things you can just code in without adding hardware, though there are some things can be but are normally listed in WIS but will very much depend on the specific options the car came with from the factory, and normally require a software upgrade as well as unit activation, and theses are normally listed in ODUS which list all applicable accessories and upgrades specific to a chassis number.
Please what I have written above is to the best of my knowledge and may not be 100% correct.

The point is that very few private owners will have genuine STAR without subscription.... most private owners will have an illegal clone, and discussing clones on here is (rightly) frowned upon.

The bottom line is that the only legal way to code anything on a Merc is by using genuine STAR (in full with subscription, or in a limited way without subscription). And it would be very rare for private owners to have that.

The main issue is that even if you are happy to pay the MB asking price, they will only sell the kit to garages, and not to private individuals. Second-hand genuine STAR units do come-up for sale from time to time, e.g. from garages that upgrade their kit or closed shop, but even then MB won't provide a subscription to a private individual.
