Coil Spring Broke in the Middle of the Night!

All sorted! Rang my indy first thing yesterday morning and explained the problem. Within a couple of hours he came, collected the car from my drive and by 5.00pm it was fixed with both front springs replaced. Total cost £240 including VAT. I think that's brilliant service at a reasonable cost - thanks Nick Webster, Mercedes Specialist in Poynton!

I was £180 all in for both front springs for my 211 two years ago

This seems to be a very common problem on the 211, to the extent that the dealer holds these parts as a stock item.

Going back some years, before I'd heard of them breaking, my wife's Renault Clio was discovered to have both rear coil springs broken at 4yrs old.

Dealer never had anything in stock but when I asked about the springs they had 11 of them! Called Renault UK and they quickly agreed to replace them FOC (and the car was one of the last to only have a 1yr warranty).

FWIW M-B Ascot (not the cheapest main dealer) charged £308 to replace the rear springs on our Vito.

All sorted! Fixed with both front springs replaced. Total cost £240 including VAT.

You guys aren't really trying....I was £400 at MB Edinburgh.

This seems to be common place on alot of new cars. I have a Vectra V6 Diesel which had 3 broken springs on the MOT earlier this year!

150 for one... I know I know..should have replaced in pairs..
