That does look interesting!!

I'd imagine the top strut mount would have to be swapped out for a non standard one because it would be loaded by the spring with some of the car's weight, something the original one would not have been designed to cope with.

I always thought the main load carried by a standard set up was a tension load ie we have very little compression damping but a lot of rebound damping. With this design aren’t that now prominently loading the strut mount in compression with the spring?

Then it makes me wonder if a stronger but still insulating top mount would be possible to fit for road use. I'm sure they would have camber plates there which is ok for motor sport, but it would be harsh for road use.

Other thought is - how strong is the chassis at the top strut mount position and how much extra force can be transmitted to the chassis through the mount without having to reinforce the chassis around it. I guess this rally car would be a good source of info, be interesting to see the top mount design and how long it lasts..........

Think whoever posted the original breached copyright with the music on the soundtrack so it was removed pity- but if you have a look at some of the related YouTube clips they have sound- I chose that particular one simply for the picture quality. Here's a brief one without any "pumpin" sound track which seems to afflict most of the video clips.:(

Those are BMW coilovers for the E36 or E49 series AFAIK, the fronts fit perfect apparently but its the rear ones which are completely different. Some members over on StanceWorks forum have been discussing it.
