what's everyones views on colour coding the spoke of wheels?

I'm thinking of having the centre and 'spokes' painted a gunmetal grey , up to where the polished rim starts. Basically using the lip just past the allen bolts as the finishing point and then having the rims re-polished.

Think this would be a good plan or lame ?

I dont want to colour code them white to match the car as i don't think that white wheels would work, i think a darker colour would be best .

Comments please .....

cheers

H

p.s. That lovely shiny finish is Zymol Cleaner Wax - smells good too !

My wheels, at 5 years old, were looking tired(!) to say the least. I decided to paint them 'a bit special' - without being too bling. Being a man of many talents I:

1) Bead-blasted them to remove the remaining original paint
2) Acid etched the complete wheels (tyres off)
3) Base coated the wheels all over in two-pack mid silver (a close match to the original colour)
4) Flash coated the front face of the wheels with blue rose pearlescent.
5) Laquered the entire wheels with two-pack laquer to a high gloss finish.
6) Baked the paint to harden it.
7) Fitted and balanced my new Vredestein Ultracs (surely these are the best looking tyres on the market?)

I reckon the wheels look staggeringly good. The pearlescent is extremely subtle, and only really shows under sodium lighting. Painting the rear of the wheels adds a greater depth - I didn't pearl the rear of the wheels because of the cost of the pearlescent paint.

If anyone is interested I will post pics.
