What colours suit the new E class saloon? Having only seen pictures of the car it is hard to judge whether lighter or darker shades suit the car best.

I saw an SE Saloon in Iridium Silver while in on holiday in Italy recently and was distinctly underwhelmed. Then I saw an Avantgarde saloon in Cuprite Brown (the dark bronze colour) at a dealer's yesterday and it looked stunning. They also had an SE in solid black and I thought that looked pretty dismal too, so I'd say that the darker metallics seem to suit it best.

FWIW, I took a 350CDI Sport saloon for a test drive and was mightily impressed. Extremely refined and quiet and, despite the sport suspension and 18-inch wheels, a very good ride too - and I drove over some very rough roads. Looking at the spec and pricing though, the Avantgarde makes much more sense and I see one of those in my future ;)

I'm thinking along the same lines as yourself Phil, depending on what sort of Price to change I get.

IMHO silver works well.

I have a silver C class now Steve and would really like a change, unless the new E class looks much better in a shade of silver.

the new colours like the Brozey Brown or the murky sewage green colours.. as nasty as the name suggests, look very sharp on the car!

Oooh, are you considering the purchase of a new car :thumb::D. You're present one sounds nice but I think you'll enjoy a 212 very much.

Black is nice, but if you are after something more individual (silver and black are the most popular choices) a nice shade of dark red or dark blue would be very classy. You should also consider after the exterior colour what interior colour scheme you want. I'd assume as you have an elegance 204 you'd go for SE or AG on the 212.

Just considering Steve at this time as it depends what sort of PX price the dealer offers. My problem is a visit to the dealers is very expensive, so I need an indication of what the cost to change would be based on my description of my car.

Favourite colours at the moment are,

Cuprite brown + black

Indigo blue + black or alpaca grey

Tansanite blue + black or alpaca grey.

If I get a good offer I will change, but expect the usual insulting PX price.

My dealer has a good range, the dark ones look better, anything from tenorite down.

Sport spec ones in Obsidian especially look good.

I like the white .....just wished, if I was changing, that I would have the nerve to go for it...doubt it as I would be too scared of re-sale values.

I think this with a pano sunroof would look nice

e class colours

I have a new 212 in Black Metalic and it looks great, but difficult to keep clean!

White does look good. Nice on the 204's as well. Bugger to keep clean though :(

and you save over £600 not having to pay for metallic ..

212 looks good in Avantgarde spec with 18" 5 spoke wheels.

AMG 18" 6 twin spoke wheels on Sport look too small

will be even better when the Blue Efficiency model turns up .. hp should be about 270, and less CO2.

It had Blue Efficiency badges on the front wings, so I assumed it to be just that?

sorry, I mean the new generation engines -- the 4 cylinders have ultra high pressure piezzo injectors, the V6 only has "high pressure"

Unless you go for the coupé - then there is a special white at £1047....:eek:

that the metallic white, not a flat white.

there was a CLS is the metallic white at Brooklands .. lovely.

Looks like Aston Martin's "Morning Frost White"

Looks like the Cuprite brown is quite a favourable colour choice, apart from black or white.

Cuprite brown was my favourite colour choice, but only having seen it in the Mercedes brochure (all cars in brochures look nice for obvious reasons) I wondered how it looked in real life.

Next step is to see how keen the Mercedes the dealer is to sell cars. If not it could be a BMW.

Oh! Wait a minute, I've already made that mistake before. As for the BMW dealership I dealt with, I swore they would never get another penny out of me so that make is out.

Audi? Had two A4's and really liked them, having four wheel drive in a saloon or estate is a bonus in winter. Servicing locally by an Audi approved garage is another plus for Audi.

So the Mercedes dealership has some competition if they want my business.

Thanks for the input on colours everybody.

John

One more thing, the MBUK site is very poor, cannot find the configure your next car option. Find a retailer brought up a map but no link to their website and a poor layout IMHO.
