I know this topic has been covered a lot, and I have searched the forums but I can not seem to find to answers I need, Briefly, I have a 2002 CLK 240 (W209) originally fitted with an Audio 10 Radio CD. I decided to retrofit a Comand 2.0 together with a CD autochanger located in the Glove box, all done, using a wiring adapter harness, that I was assured would allow a plug and play, the Autochanger came with wiring anyway. Everything works, Sat nav, Radio, even the Autochanger, however the unit does not light up when the lights are on and the steering wheel controls and dash display don't work. When all was fitted there was a plug with 2 wires Red +Red/ Brown which did not seem to plug in anywhere also the loom from the CD Autochanger had the same 2 wires, only about a metre long with a smaller connector, which again seemed to go nowhere, Can anyone shed any light on what these wire do and where they go, I contacted mark at Comand Online, and the only advice I have been given is to book the car in with them and they will sort it, which if they were nearer and I had unlimited funds I would, I am quite capable of doing this I just need a little help, Please.

Pretty sure that they are canbus wires especially if they are twisted together.
Sorry can’t help with where they go but someobe might know if there is a canbus junction point near there.

Thanks for the reply Ted, can't believe that no one can point me in the right direction, have even contacted Comand online and all they will tell me is book it in with them, which is fine unless you live a hundred miles or so away as I do, I guess its a case of trawling through posts etc until I find what I need, or finding a specialist nearer to me. either way I guess I'll figure it out in the end, just be nice to have it done sooner than later.

I cannot help with your issue other than to say Comand Online are superb at sorting out these type of issues.

I did take my car to them and they are over 150 miles from me and weather was pants but it was worth the effort.

Pretty sure they are CANBUS as mentioned which is consistent with the symptoms.
Google w209 Junction point and you should find the location if onecwhich is usually in the footwell somewhere.

Just a heads up. For approx. £300 you can move to something that is much more functional.
I went from audio 10 to COMAND 2.0 and very quickly realised the shortcomings of a near 20 year old system so went with an Erisin android unit.
It has full android app support for nav etc, CD/DVD drive, AM/FM.DAB+, reverse camera, bluetooth for audio streaming and calls etc and still fully integrated with steering wheel control.
If you can fit a COMAND 2.0 you will have no problem installing one of these.

The two wires you have that are 'spare' are the CANBUS wires and these are the root cause of your issues.

You wont be getting a speed pulse, illumination, steering wheel controls or instrument cluster display.

The conversion loom you purchased should have sorted these wires for you. If it hasn't, then its the wrong loom or its faulty.

Thanks for that might be worth considering.

Thanks for the heads up, like the way it looks very similar to the comand unit, will persevere though, as I'm one of those that like original equipment if at all possible, irrespective of whether its not as good.

Thanks for the info, I will try another adapter loom, my brother lives in germany so have asked him to see what he can do, other than that is will be another call to Comand Online.

On the upside, that's not as incongruous as some of the Android offerings. - I'm also happy with COMAND despite an Android head unit being functionally better.
