I have a Nokia 6610i in a B6 787 5835 holder. No problems generally, but for no particular reason, the Comand no longer connects with the phone. If you press the Telephone button, it says "Please insert telephone" even though it is inserted, and there is no signal shown at the bottom of Comand screen. The telephone works as normal when not in holder, and when you insert it in the holder it starts charging, so there is obviously some sort of connection. Any ideas what could be causing this? It may be a coincidence, but the problem occurred after an MB service. Thanks.

the best thing would be, to return to service, and tell them about that issue. they might-have switched off, or forgot to switch on that feature.

What was the resolution, as I have a similar problem with the phone in my car.

Bit of a long shot but take phone out and have a look at the contacts on the bottom of the phone.
I bought a used phone off eBay for sole use in my S211.
When I inserted phone onto craddle got nothing at all.

Looked at connector on bottom of phone and it was all black and cruddy.

Gave it a good clean with an old toothbrush and phone worked first time.

Probably wont be the case for you if the phone never leaves the craddle, but just thought I'd share my experience.

Tan, a friend of mine couldn’t get his phone to work with the command, it turned out that there is a rubber bung on the back of the phone, when it is removed , there is a socket inside that connects to a plug on the the phone cradle when the phone is docked.

When he put the phone in the cradle it still charged ok, he never knew about the bung so he could never use the phone with the command.
Should have read the manual.

Thanks Dec,

My phone used to work but has stopped, will check the aerial socket bung as I may have either put it back in or have something lodged in there.

Mine does this very occasionaly.
Two things generally resolve it.
Remove the phone and switch it off and on - this doesnt work if the phone is not removed or
Remove the phone and pop the holder out of the car. Turn the comand off and reconnect the holder. When turned back on again it usually works.

Only this week mine could see the phone but wouldn't allow it to work - a message like 'not active' would show. Resolved by pressing TEL and then reloading the phone book.

I've had the same thing: the phone rarely connects properly now but it was fine for at least six months after I purchased my car. There was a COMAND head unit upgrade that was installed by the dealer during a warranty visit. Perhaps MB have put more restrictions on the phones supported by each cradle. Have other members with phone problems had the COMAND head unit upgrade too?
