Hi,

Is there any actual functional difference between Version 8 and Version 9.1, for instance can 9.1 do more than 4 digit postcodes, or make tea, or do anything else extra or unusual?? Cheers

Sadly thats not all true.

R2D2 has a W203 so i'll start with the disks for that first.

The following disks are for the A/B/C/CLK/ML/GL and R class (all MY2005 - MY2008)

4, 4.1, 6.1,6.2,6.3,8,9,9.1 and 10.

Version 6.1 was the first with TMC. No updates are required to head units for any of these disks to work. You can go straight from 4 to 10. Version 8 is a good stable version. Version 9 and 9.1 had flaws in the data. Lots of towns missing and serious bootloader issues which can render your comand system 'dead'. We can revive them but you'd rather not have the hassle. V10 fixed all this.

The following disks are for the E/CLS/SL/S/Maybach range with Comand APS.

4,4.1 5,5.1, 7,8 and 9. Now those versions in this list with the same numbering as those above ARE NOT THE SAME DISKS. They are not interchangeable between the model range groups.

Versions up to V7 required a navigation processor update each time you went up a version. Version 8 for this range fixed that. So V8 and V9 can go straight into the nav drive without an update disk.

So for R2D2 I would recommend staying on V8 (for W203)until such time as you want the latest V10. V9 and V9.1 (For W203 etc) are best left alone. V9 for E class is fine.

How much for a V10 disc Alfie? I guess it'll work in my forfour too, the A-Class one usually is the same.:D

Hi Alfie

I have Version 4.1 in my E Class. I gather I can just drop a V9 disc in and the TMC will then work. If this is correct I'll be ordering !

Sorry just re-read your post. I see a need a processor update. How can I get this all done ?

No I think he was saying that you only needed a processor update up to v7, so to jump to V9 you would not need this.

Does this apply to older E class like the W210?

Thanks, I think you're right. I've been up too long today. Time to go to bed I think ! :o

If you look at the box of the disk, the one with the Blue strip on it is the one for the A/B/C/ML/GL/R and the one with the green stripe is for E/CLS/SLK/SL/Old-S/Old-CL

The A/B/C.. system is called NTG2 and the E/CLS/... is called NTG1

Latest NTG2 dvd is 10.0, latest NTG1 dvd is 9.0

The numbers between NTG1 and NTG2 do not have any reference to each other and overlap as mentioned above.
