Comand firmware upgrade problems

Car
e320
I have downloaded and burnt the iso image from the site
http://www.geocities.com/comand12000/

When I insert this into comand and press the * and # I get:-
Service download from CD
Current : Oct 8 1999
New : Oct 22 2001

Start Head Unit
Start TMC Box (greyed out)

When I select start head unit with the rotary knob I get the next screen:-
CD ROM software Download
Preparing to download....
Checking CD...

Then after a few seconds the screen blanks and everything stops. (althoug I can hear the comand unit running, but not accessing the cd at all). All the buttons are inoperable. The only way to eject is to use 5+7+eject. Then start the car and comand resets. If I then put the nav cd back in it relaods all the nav software then is ok.
But no upgrade has been done.

Any Ideas what the problem is?
Car is a 2000 e320 with comand 2.0 factory fit.

Thanks

the problem is that some of the older comands have a bootloader failure, so it`s not possible to update them!

Is there any way to fix this problem?
Or am I stuck with the old firmware forever.

It could be just a CAN bus verification loop. This is terminated by pressing 1 + 3

Tried this as well, but was not really sure when to press 1+3. When should I press one and three.? Before I load the disk or as the disk checking screen is on?

I'll try a few more combinations.

I didnt know such a thing was possible to not work.

I setup a 12V power supply and purchased a DIN adapter with loom and found that I could run COMAND on my desk.

You could always try that method. It most certainly wont cost you much to try. I used a 12V 2AMP regulated source and a 3 GBP loom from a car specialist that does radios.

believe me it`s a bootloader failure... just a Bosch/Blaupunkt technican can fix this problem with his diag software on his laptop!

I realise that once in the car the COMAND behaves rather strangely. Outside the car is may develop some degree of compliance since it is not distracted by CAN or other things going on.

So, do these people exist in the UK?, anyone know an independant specialist. I always worry when involving the main stealer in electronics issues, especially comand, they never inspire much confidence they actually know much about the electronics and are too expensive anyway.
