I tried to have a play with this on the drive to work. I had some audio CDs in the changer and I thought I could rip them to the register, but no joy.

A google once I was at work and a search here suggests it only works by transferring existing MP3 files on a CD or DVD to the register.

But...the COMAND manual clearly states an Audio CD is able to be ripped so is it jut a misleading manual? Has anyone loaded an audio CD directly to the register?

Simon

PS I have the 2010 6gb version

Interesting point.

The manual indeed describes the process of copying music from CD to HD.

However... they do not specifically say it's an Audio CD, and on fact if you look at the example given in the manual they are actually copying mp3 files off the CD, not Audio tracks.

See:

Next to the CDN9 CD, there's a tiny 'MP3' logo, suggesting the CD contains mp3 files and not CD Audio tracks.

I think that the manual is not entirely clear here, but you are right in thinking that you can't actually rip Audio tracks onto the HD (which would require COMAND to convert them to mp3 - a tall order apparently).

Music Register

Can anyone explain the system of organising folders in the music register. Using the manual and 'trial and error' I just cannot work out the system of main and sub-folders. Thanks.

I do it all on the PC and then just burn a DVD-RW with the structure and names I want.

Far too fiddley to do it on the COMAND once the files are on there!

If you don't go for the Ipod option, then this is the best way - at least you have it all backed up and easy to restore.. but then can't you just pop 6 DVD's in there - that makes about 24Gb of music and no messing around.

To be honest, I rarely use the register and just have all the songs/playlists on a 32gb USB connected to the media interface.
