COMAND NTG5 Video Input

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can tell me the minimum hardware I require to connect an RGB or HDMI source to display video on the COMAND monitor?

Googling like a mad man, I appear to need a Multimedia Video Interface. I have found:
  1. v.LiNK 2 video+RVC+RGB-input MB NTG5/NTG5.1
  2. v.LiNK 2 video+RVC+RGB-input MB W222, C217 NTG5
  3. HDMI LINK MULTIMEDIA INTERFACE WITH HDMI INPUT

Item 1 mentions the W204 coupé, it doesn't mention W205. It also contradicts itself saying PAL + NTSC then NTSC only.

Item 2 says "Compatible to Mercedes Benz S-class W222 and S-Coupé C217 generation NTG5 with Comand Online." but the video inputs are PAL & NTSC.

Item 3 may be the best bet. It's also available from a UK company. It looks like it may be able to be controlled from the touchpad. Shame there's no picture of the actual hardware.

Both 1 & 2 mention "RVC" what is RVC?

Basically, I am looking for a 360 degree camera recording solution for incident evidence gathering. The best option I have found so far is the SVC360GPS from SmartWitness. However that comes with an ugly LCD so I am looking to see how I can get video input into the Comand unit.

Other things to consider and probably better answered by SmartWitness, is the supplied LCD actually required and does it perform any controls and if so is there any method of integrating these controlls. From their other products that use the same 4 channel recorder but doesn't come with an LCD, I conclude the former is a no.

I guess integration into the Comand monitor could mean it could be used for manoeuvring as well. I suspect the video-in-motion system disables video playback over a certain speeds and the existing reverse camera would have to be disabled.

Whether you can read off number plates from the footage remains to be seen...

As always, I'm tremendously grateful for any advise that you can put my way.

Thanks

W.
