comand ntg 1 for sl r230 2007

could any of you knowledgeable chaps out there help me,i need a comand ntg 1 for an sl r230 2007,is this a plug and play with a mercedes unit or will it need to be coded,also what difference will it make if i substitute a unit without infra red for the original which has infra red ,many thanks,mick
