COMAND NTG 2.5 Blank white screen - R350 W251

Hi all,

I have an R350 W251 with NTG 2.5 (6 disc changer model)
I have had the car over a year, bought 2nd hand, but the screen just went white one day!

I can still control the head unit using the bezel buttons and steering wheel buttons, so radio stations and telephone still work.
Also, the rear camera isn't much use at the moment and the white screen can be a bit bright when driving at night!

I thought it might be a faulty screen so I replaced just this part. It made no difference.

I have seen various units for sale on ebay etc for about £500 but I don't really want to spend that.
There are lots of 2nd hand units from other MB models available at loser prices. Can I fit one of these, just using the bezel and trim from my car?
I can't believe that each model of car has a different head unit, all being NTG 2.5?

I haven't found much by searching the forums so I hope that some knowledgeable sort can point me in the right direction.

You can swop the fronts and the locating lugs on the side. When installing the "new" unit it will need SCN coding (to configure it for your car's options) and possibly a firmware update, and probably a map update if you had done your old one. If you don't have reasonably up-to-date firmware then you can't install the latest map

So you need someone will fully supported (online) Star Diagnosis, which means Mercedes dealer or a very small set of specialists (such as comand.co.uk)

I thought as much.

I'll see if there are any local specialists with the star diagnostics who would recode it for me.

I've read that Mercedes dealers aren't very happy. Ding it.

They need 'online star diagnosis' and to have an online login not just a clone machine.
