ML 300
Hi I have a ML300 with the Command NTG 2.5 which has just stopped playing music cd it plays dvd sound and picture, has anyone had this problem and does anyone have a fix for it thanks.

No idea, but I would suggest:

1. Try a lens cleaning CD.

2. Pull the fuse to fully reset the system.

3. Talk to www.comandonline.co.uk to see if they can offer a firmware upgrade, repair or replacement.

PS - Does it play mp3 files off the SD-Card slot and/or Internal music store?

Hi thanks for the reply yes it does play mp3 files from the sd card which fuse to reset system, there is an option in setting to reset the system will that do the same.

The reset function in the menu will delete the data from the device, so don't do that.

I dont know which fuse protects the radio in your car - you will need to check the fuse chart. On my previous car (which had COMAND NTG2.5) it was located in the fuse box in the engine bay. I am not suggesting this will resolve the issue, just that hard boot is the standard fault diagnosis procedure for any electronic device.

Also - are the CDs you are trying to play original Audio CDs, or CD media with burnt mp3 files? Best try a couple of new Audio CDs just to be sure that the issue is with the CD player and not with your CD media.

Yes the cd are original discs I also tried other original disc but it just comes on the screen disc unreadable. Just cant work out why it sees and plays dvd movies.

CDs have different focusing requirements than DVDs. To play a CD on a DVD player, a DVD player will have either a variable focus mechanism for the laser or a dual laser mechanism – that is, one laser to read CDs and another to read DVDs. These days the dual laser arrangement is generally the more common option.

Tried using a cd lens cleaner but still the same doesn't seem to spin up the drive for the cleaner to work, is there much involved taking the unit out to clean it manually.
