Welcome! If you post the VIN number, we can be accurate and also give you a list of what else was factory fit on the car.

This looks like NTG4.5/4.7. What year is your car?

NTG4.5 was generally available between 2011 and 2013. NTG4.7 was available from 2013 to 2015. But the exact production years vary by model.

Also, if you Google 'Engineering Menu NTG4.5' you will see how you can go into the device info and check the version of COMAND.

Thanks Guys, I have the Factory Data Sheet for the car, and code 531 refers to COMAND 5/5.5 which to what little I worked out doesn’t make any sense. The car is also referred to as a 2016 Model although manufactured and registered for the road in early 2015.
I was hoping the Part No. and Model No. would have nailed it. If the version is shown on the HU menu, then I’ll have to wait until I take delivery next week

The pre-facelift E-Class was fitted with NTG4.5, but it got NTG5*X in 2016, the last year of the pre-facelift. So you could have a late pre-facelift E-Class with NTG5*X.

BTW, the Datacard codes come from MB, and they are usually correct, but the description text next to the code comes from another system and on ocassition it has known to be wrong! Not suggesting this is the case here, but just a reminder that the Datacard text description are not the gospels.

If so, its NTG 4.

If its blue/grey interfact it will be NTG 5

The shortlist for a 2015/2016 car is either late NTG4.5 (aka NTG4.7) or early NTG5*1. That's pretty much the only two options for COMAND for these years...

Thanks Mark, that bit of advice was very clear even to a numpty like me.

Can’t I get anything right??
I never thought for a minute that NTG 5*1 was fitted to pre 2016 cars Phil? So am I able to assume it has Carplay too, despite it not appearing on the Factory Data Sheet?

There was a changeover at some point for cars built during 2015. I’m not sure exactly when, but I can assure you that the photo is of an NTG5*1 system. Whether it has CarPlay or not I have no idea I’m afraid.

Thanks Phil for your input, I find it all very mysterious that there are so many different scenarios

NTG5x first came in with the W205 in late 2014. Other models got it later - the W212 only got it in its last production year (2016).

Not all variants of NTG5x have native support for Apple CarPlay, again it varies by model. On the W205 for example it is only available from 2019. On other cars Apple CarPlay is present but needs to be activated.
