This is my first time on a forum so please forgive any errors. I just wanted to make the effort to warn other people about
downloading update disks for their comand from the internet. I have done this a few times with no problems. But the latest venture will be very costly as my
comand now reboots every 10seconds after downloading a copy of NTG4 w204 Comand V.11 2013-2014.
I have to admit I knew there were risks involved but I thought as the disks loaded okay all will be good or that if there was any problems they would just not load. That was until it rebooted after finishing perfectly..then it rebooted..and rebooted..and rebooted.
So now the cost looks like a replacement unit @£850 if I want some warranty. This is for W204 C350 NTG4 comand that has only done 36,000 miles.
I have been in touch with Comand Online and I am awaiting their possible costing on repair also. So please take note guys don’t take the chance unless you want to feel totally stupid and bankrupt like me.

If anyone can help or offer advice on getting the unit repaired or replaced at a reasonable cost I would be grateful..thanks

I doubt the issue was caused by the dodgy disk, surely there must be a way to reflash the firmware back to a previous version?

Sorry to hear about this.

With comandonline, you are in the best possible hands, if anything can be done then Alfie and Richard (forum members) will know how to do it.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for the support guys, been emailing Mark @comand.online hoping for some ideas tomorrow. btw all was perfect before the dodgy disks:(

Noted advert for replacement quoting NTG4 accepting full postcode..is this possible?

KillerHERTZ..if the disk would get a chance to read within the 10 seconds before each reboot I might have a chance to revert to previous...but i've tried

I believe there's someone on the other side who also believes that copied discs do no damage ?

Anyway ... Interesting paragraph starts on 24/4/2012 ...

Fake & copied disks - Why you shouldnt use them

I would have thought if the disk was directly to blame then the upgrade would have failed at the time of your upgrade. If it completed normally then it could be that it would have had the same failure with an original disk.

There is still a higher risk using copies but in this case (imho) I think your comand was due to break.
