Hi

I have at last got my car back from its trip to the garage for a faulty air supsension strut.

As the car was sitting for 9 weeks, the battery went flat, now the rear comfort light module, in the middle of the roof of the car does not want to work.

The reading lights work, but the comfort lights and the switch to close the blinds does not. Is there any way to reset this module?

Thanks

Tan

Have you checked it isn't a fuse ?

Sorry if you have , but often worth checking the obvious things first .

To be honest I have not, but I thought as the reading lights work, I didn't think that the rest of the panel would have a seperate fuse.

Does anyone know if there are seperate fused for controls on this panel?

Ah - the reading lights are co-located with the other light ? On my W126 , the reading lights are in the 'C' pillar and the main light is in the centre above the rear window .

Still , it can sometimes be strange how fuses can cover a variety of different functions and sometimes two things you might think would be on the same fuse , might not be .

Thinking further about your original post , it sounds similar to the front light module , as used in W201,W124and W126 models which houses main light , reading light and sunroof switches - there are a number of plug in connectors above there to serve the different functions - maybe the switch for the blind has been unplugged , the one light not working could simply be a bulb out .

The lights and blind may well be on different fuses - should say either in the handbook or inside the lid of the fusebox .

Can't think why anyone would disturb that unit to work on suspension , though .

Maybe if the door was open ( and that light on ) when the car was jump started , a voltage surge may have occurred , blowing the lamp - and what else ?

As Pontoneer has suggested, i would check simple and easy things like the connectors and bulbs which could easily have blown and fuses etc.

I had a play about with the dimmer switches on the module and the lights flicker on and then straight off again. This ruling out a blown bulb.

Another odd thing was the sunroof, this morning it would slight back but not open upwards, however by the time I got to work it would opne in both directions.

[Swiss Tony] Getting your car back after a suspension strut replacement is like making love to a beautiful woman. At first, because you have negelected her for so long, she is immune to your caresses. But, as you see, the more you touch her buttons the more she responds. I advise that you keep touching those buttons and soon she will be fully awake and respond to your every command. [/Swiss Tony]

I know some cars time out on the interior lights to save the battery when doors etc open then reset after a few ign on and offs.
