I have a 51 PLATE S320 CDi with command 2.5. Is it possible to do a firmware update to the command to allow the cd changer to play mp3 files on cd ?
or is this only possible by fitting another CD changer ?
How can I see what version of command I am currently running ? is MY01 the latest ?
Let me know. Thanks

I don't think there is a software update you can apply to your head unit to allow the playing of mp3 files. I have only ever seen an firmware update for the dvd comand aps unit that allows the playing of mp3s.

Also, MY01 is the latest officially released firmware for comand dx 2 and 2.5.

Barney,

I have Comand 2.5 in my CL 500 (2000) and I researched the MP3 issue for weeks. Believe me it cannot be done! Sorry.

Possible solutions:
1. Add in a 3rd party DVD player to play movies and MP3 files. Connects via the 'TV tuner' input. Very expensive and cannot be controlled via comand or the steering wheel.
2. A FM transmitter and a portable MP3 player eg. ipod. Cheap, works fairly well. Reception affected by built up areas/cities etc.

Theres no Aux port on comand 2.5 the electronics are used by the tape deck that is built in !

You can pick up an AV adapter for £250 if you are desperate or less than that if you get one from DE or second hand off ebay.

A DVD player with MP3 capability is £100+ and then not only do you have MP3 playback but also DVD :)

You will need to have the in-motion updates made to your comand if you want to see the MP3 tracknames / playlist selections / visualisations generated by the DVD player while you are driving, this would also allow you to watch DVDs on the move but this is frowned upon.

hi giys i have found a site that has an awesome setup i have a 2002 cl500 with the T.V built in it was no good to me because everything has went digital there name LOVEMYAUTO phone number is 01315557040 they have 3 upgrade kits which take your T.V to the new digital age i got my car today and must say you wont be dissapointed with there service please get in touch with this company they are the only ompany of this type in the U.K

No they arent and you you need to do is connect a digital tuner to the aux input of the factory analogue tuner. Plenty of people have done this upgrade.

Alpine used to do a D2B -> AINET (or was it mBus) interface that would then allow you to connect one of their MP3 capable CD changers. I think it was recently discontinued though, but may be still available.

Worth asking Alfie (PM him) if he can find out anything as he can get Alpine stuff.

Cheers

Do you have any association with lovemyauto? - from the way you write it seems that this is a friends company or your employers company ..

We like genuine recommendations on this board, so I am hoping that you are just a customer ....
