I have read loads of stuff about retro fitting Command into my w203 c270 cdi, but I'm still struggling to understand how much this will be all in. I have seen that MbenzNL seem to be the recommeded way to go. Are they not in Holland? Are they able to supply and fit in the UK? If they supply a kit to me, could I fit myself?

I have surfed a fair amount and have found Command available as a package from the USA for $1249 all in. www.cars.engisoft.net Has anyone had any experience or dealings with these guys? They recon that I would be purchasing a Euro package.

Any one got a Command package for sae in the UK?

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Try forum member Steve_BCS he had fitted command to his C-Class and can often supply Command units

If you want a basic comand install you're talking about £750ish for the comand unit and another £150ish for bits and pieces, budget for about a grand. If you want the cd-changer to go with it (you may already have this) then it's about £300 and the cables (power/fibre, which you also may already have) will be no more than £50 I would think.

MBenzNL is just one man, hard though it is to believe ;) . He is very busy these days doing comand installations all over the world. He installed comand in my previous car in September 2002, when I visited him in NL. He can supply parts and he can install if required, although the installation in a w203 is fairly straightforward I think.

I'd not bother with a USA supplier if I were you, Steve_bcs or MBenzNL should be able to help you out with a comand unit and you can get all the other parts at your local stealership parts dept :) .

Yep

Steve_BCs can help

Please drop me a PM and I will discuss cost etc.. I do have a C203 used comand available with map disc, GPS antenna & wiring loom as we speak

Hi Steve, took me a while to under stand what PM mean't, but I can't seem to make it work...

With ref to the parts you have, I'm interested to find out the total cost to supply these. Are you able to fit as well? I assume these are second hand, good condition?

I also have a question about CD's. Is it correct that the Command takes it's data from the CD at all times? If so, then I cannot play music with the single slot in the Command? Does this mean I need a multy play as well?

I have also had a Blue Tooth car kit installed. This has been fitted to interrupt the radio/CD and incoming calls are eard via the car speakers. Will this have an effect on the Command install?

Thanks again, talk soon

Simon

i bought my comand from Steve - its great :) had no problems fitting myself. fitting in my CLK was similar to fitting a standard radio.... only extra thing was mounting the aerial behind the passenger airbag.

Cost for comand is as per my PM to you it includes gps antenna & map disc. & a user manual - its used but in excellant condition. GPS is new , the map disc is a backup of GB2003 - new ones cost about £100 from teleatlas. I am not a pro fitter but can advise you as can many others on here. I can help out with fitting if you are in Manchester

Yep youre right. You'd need a fibre optic MB Cd changer to listen to cd's whilst navigating.

As far as I know, your car kit will work just the same - its essentially a hed unit change and the speaker & Power connectors are standard in Mb's

hope this helps

Steve

It's all gone pear shaped I'm afraid. Due to a rather silly man running up the back of my motorbike and knocking me off, I am now having to postpone all this Command stuff until I get this sorted. Thanks a million for all of the help and costs etc.

When I'm ready, I get back in touch.

Ouch ! sorry to hear that

hope you are ok.
