Just bought a 1999 S500 LWB and was told that the comand system was working but had no disc.

2 weeks later i bought a disc and no realise i have no sound from the system what so ever, radio tunes in fine but it doesn't recognise the CD changer in the boot?

Any ideas as to what it could be as dealer said that the fibre optics are working fine but unless i stumped up a hefty ammount of money they wouldn't diagnose anything else!!

P.S it has an uprated Bose sound system.

The cd changer is a common fault try a search on here or a a google.

As for the sound what happens when you switch the system on?

Mine a merc symbol appears and almost straight away the radio starts, then push nav for nav, if cd says cd changer loading the cartridge may be stuck remove it refit it and keep retrying they are a right pain.

Cd changers always make good money on e bay for this very reason.

There is no sound what so ever. The command loads up fine and radio tunes in, there isn't a nav disc so it just say's no nav disc.

I thought it might be the amp processor?? but i'm only guessing.

I dont want to send the cd changer, the amp and the command unit away for testing if i can help it!!

Is there any way of testing each bit my self?

Cheers Andy
