common w210 problem?

hi all, its seems there is a very common problem with w210 auto gearbox, where the car will only use 1st and reverse gears, any ideas as to the cause of this? as mine seems to be the same. cheers all, any help would be great.

The car could be in "limp for home " mode . This is a safe mode for the gearbox that happens when a fault is decetced . You need to get the codes read and find out what is the prob
