Any decent freeware stuff I can use?

If I do how do people uncompress at the other end?

I am looking to compress word docs, maybe an excel sheet or 2 and possibly pdf's

Any suggestions?

matt

Winzip is good.

But aren't pdf files already compressed?

Sp!ke

When I google them I have to pay to download them or am I missing a very simple trick? Is there any freeware? Or something built into Vista

I also use WinRAR. After the trial period it keeps asking to purchase but it continues to work as normal

winzip is one of the few tools I would recommend having a license for.

I don't think PDFs will compress by more than a few %, if at all. Unless you or your regular contacts are on dial-up, or you are looking for the security contribution of compression packages, I'm surprised that you perceive the need.

WinZip is almost universal. The other one is StuffIt, which started in Macdom.

Windows XP Pro seems to decompress WinZip files happily enough.
