Concept X-Class Pick Up Truck - Press Release

Do not get the Pick-up thing at all...

Whatever you put in the back gets wet or nicked, and if you're not putting anything in the back, why are you buying one?

Not to mention the airbrake-like aerodynamics guaranteeing significantly worse fuel consumption.

I won't invest and I'm out!

The fact that they sell so well in the US would be reason enough to avoid them.

I don't think so!
This is a hotly contested market dominated by the big three and Toyota with Nissan hot into the market with the new Cummins 5 litre V8.
Cummins of course the foremost world leader in commercial vehicle diesel engines

The hard core PU buyers are 'merican thinkers only!
Dodge with the Cummins package the most popular although Ford F series in all categories beats the bunch hands down!

Pentastar engine is an MB based unit!

I can see a small percentage of MB enthusiasts buying them wearing their weekend cowboy duds & snake skin Tony Llamas, but down on the farm/ranch for those wearing Carharts it will still be Chevy/Ford and Dodge the hardcore Mopar men.

As for Dodge Bros remember they have always got it right!
Here's something to make you go completely off Made in America (well these are made in Canada really) --film made by a Brit!

Yes I tend to agree!
In my business I use a Sprinter 3500 box truck with an extension boom to lift major units into the back, and since its a mobile workshop for big truck roadside repairs i can of course being a dry van box close it and secure it with $1000's of tools inside .

The same goes for our general workshop use, a LWB 2500 tall roof regular Sprinter van.

That stated.
In the US there is a very generous tax write off and depreciation schedule for using pick up trucks and work/business related activities.
So you can have a car like ambience for the family transport just like a regular car but for the rest of the week use it as a work truck. If you use it for Ag purposes with a Farm Truck plate it's almost a free vehicle.
Here you can see the PU truck being used for round ups

ps
Try a Bison burger or Bison steak/Prime rib some time--you won't want to eat regular beef steaks after that even if they are USDA grass fed approved!!

"Tail hair samples are taken for DNA testing to ensure purity of the herd."

Why is this seen as a positive in the animal world and an extreme negative for the human world. We seem to be going in the opposite direction that what the conservationists are heading. I wonder who's wrong - and why...?

Ohhhhh now that can definitely replace my Hi-Lux for work, just need to convince fleet!

Move along now "Nissan" to see here people! ;) A slightly over the top Merc advert for the X class. Ironic that its full of US tropes considering its not going to be marketed there- for the present at least . Anyway here's what happens when you give an advertising agency a blank cheque.

Only flaw i can see with this and its a big 1, renault has something to do with it and we all know the french have a really good track record for making absolutely shocking bad vehicles, instantly that would put me off owning 1 or recommending this to anybody

Really do like the look of these and I’ll probably buy one at some point in the future, I’m sure they’ll sell by the bucketload.

The main, quite baffling, negative for me though is that you can only buy it with the Nissan four pot at launch, why they’re not using their own 4cyl is a mistake in my opinion. Plus, they’ll not be releasing the V6 with the proper Merc engine towards the back end of the year.

Although it looks smart, If it’s got anything to do with Renault-Nissan, No thanks!

Actually it is a collaboration between renault, nissan and mercedes has just picked up the chassis and whatever else and rebadged it and re-fitted it to their standards.
