Brabus D5 (E280 CDI) Avantgarde, E280 CDI Sport Estate, E320 Avantgarde now sold
Hi all.

My cousin looks primed to shell out £1300 for a new condenser. :(

They bought the car approved used 11 months ago...

The stealer has already lightened his pockets to the tune of £200 for 're- gassing' (no pun intended).

Any ideas?

Olly?

Thanks in advance!

I know its Friday night folks...

Any condenser experts still sober??
:p

I'm guessing the car would classify as pre facelift W169...

If this was "approved used" 11 months ago why is your cousin expected to pay anything. Does the warranty not cover it?

MB say it is caused stone damage, and thus not covered...:(

Seems an awful lot of money. I would find an aircon specialist and see what they say. My son had a new condensor, radiator and conversion to the new gas on his 300e-24 for about £700 from a specialist.

Thanks GP801. I agree; seems like crazy money for a stone chip induced leak...

The part will cost very little however the front bumper and front panel of the car has to be removed. Then there's a lot of ducting to be sorted out and the condenser removed Its probably sandwiched with the radiator and will have to be detached from that. It may be easier to remove the radiator together with the condenser [ requiring draining the coolant] removing and replacing the condenser and then putting the combined unit back in? followed by regassing Problem is there's very little room to do all this. This equates to lots of labour hours which puts up the cost considerably. The A class like many FWD compact cars is a miracle of packaging----till you have to take it to bits at MB labour rates!

Whats the reg number?

Any ideas gents?
